Sanus VLT14-B1 Review by Gadget

I used this to install a 50" Panasonic plasma.

Pros: It looks well made and went together easy. The instructions were clear and the on-line tool for figuring out height and mounting was VERY helpful. Came with Lag bolts (but unfortunately - 1 snapped).

Cons: Perhaps a little thinner gauge steel than the previous mount I used. The locking mechanism seems a bit small and I don't want to say flimsy - but not as secure and I would like. Nothing has fallen off the wall - and I think it will be ok - but if the mount used a little more metal for the locking tabs - I would be happier..

While this mount is fairly easy to install and use, it suffers from some design shortcomings. Most importantly, the plastic (yes, plastic) spring-loaded tabs that go in behind the bottom of the rail (the piece horizontally-mounted on the wall) can break. If you pull the bottom of the TV away from the wall, and the pull-tabs on the bottom have not been pulled out enough, it does not take a great deal of force to break one of these plastic tabs. Once both tabs are broken, there is nothing preventing an upward force on your TV from pushing it off of the mount... and onto the floor (or person) below.

I broke one of the tabs. I am very wary of breaking the other. I will be replacing this mount with an all-metal one, perhaps a Chief.


Sanus VLT14-B1 Review by A Kiesler (New Albany, IN)

This mount is VERY slim... Couple with the KDL46HX820 from Sony, this mount and TV combine to stick out less than an inch from the wall when mounted flush. With the tilt fully extended, it's maybe 3" out at the top. This looks MUCH better mounted over our fireplace than the old KDL52V4100 and standard wall mount that stuck out around 9" at the top!

The mount was SUPER simple to install and for the weight I've put on it, more than adequate. I have no concerns with the plastic pieces, but I think that has to do with the size of the TV I mounted.

I will be purchasing another of these mounts for a new 55" soon.

I bought this CCrane radio thinking it was exactly what I wanted - preset stations, all bands, and good reception. It does have preset stations (hard to use) and all bands. Reception is average to poor. Furthermore, I listen late at night and like the volume down very low - I CANNOT DO THIS due to the discrete (not continuous) volume settings; i.e., it goes from cannot be heard at the lowest setting to too loud at the next setting up. The worst problem however is the battery consumption - the worst I've ever encountered in a portable radio. These criticisms have been previously noted. The final and previously un-noted criticism is its very poor human factors design. I should not need to read an instruction manual to operate a portable radio.(A car radio with the same features never requires the use of an instruction manual.) As a human factors engineer I would fire the person who designed this radio; this radio could not have been user tested.

I sent this radio back because the volume control dropped of too quickly on the low end. Company said they couldn't fix and offered me my money back. I liked the other features so much that I took the radio back. It has worked ok for about 2.5 years, but now I can't control the station changes. It skampers all over the range and is fickle where at times refuses to work and sometimes stays on one station while the digital read-out shows multiple number changes. Maybe I'll order one of their returned radios. A little frustrated.

I'm Happy with this pruner, I damaged my corona pruner cutting wire and couldn't find another Corona ( fits the hand so well ) so I ordered this and it works great. I'd prefer an all orange color handle (easier to find when you leave on the ground ). So I won't leave it on the ground and will refrain from cutting wire and it will probably see me out. Recommended

I found the player to be jerky, rough, unfriendly. The Touch Screen is finicky and I can rarely get to what I want without a lot of frustration. It is almost impossible to get to another screen except by accident. I appreciate the very large memory, but what I put in is not easily accessible. The photographs that it holds are viewed in the size of postage stamps, not a good visual aid for photography. Overall I was quite disappointed.

Over 20 years ago I received a Hammacher Schlemmer Turkish bath sheet as a present and I still use it. It is a little frayed but it is still a useful towel and I have grown to love it. I was looking to replace a lot of my towels and wash cloths and I decided to try the Pinzon brand. Like my old H.S. towels, these are made in Turkey and are very dense and heavy and, fortunately, more affordable even though they are 820-Gram vs their 800-Gram specs. These things have a great feel to them and really suck the water off of you when you step out of the shower. I prefer white because you always know if they are clean or not where the darker colors can hide a multitude of stains. I purchased the whole set and I am very pleased with them and plan on buying more.

These are very good quality towels as far as construction, and their weight makes them super-absorbent. Because of their density and large size they are (for a towel) VERY heavy: possibly heavier than some people would like. My only beef with them is that, though far from course, they are not as soft as I would like.

These towels are really absorbent and soft. And the sale price of $18.99US makes them a real bargain. There is some initial fading after the first wash and a lot of lint left in the dryer but I expected that with cotton and they still look great, even after multiple washings. I don't think the price of the towels over 820 gms warrants the price. These towels are a bargain and I am going to buy more before the price goes up.

I hate any fake blue colored bulbs. So, I stick with normal basic headlights. My car goes through them very often. And I bought a couple packs of these for less than I could get for a pack of store-brand-korean-made-generics.

By the way, I drive a 2005 Saab 9-3. If anybody else drives one, I'm sure you understand why we go through so many bulbs. Instead of daytime running lights as seen on other cars which used reduced power high beams or parking lamps, ours use the full regular headlamp as it would at nighttime. It doesn't bother me personally to change them now that I've got a good stockpile of these. Plus it makes me feel like more of a guy.

I hung this from a hook on the eaves of our eastern facing deck, making the late afternoon sun reflect prisms of beautiful colors dance across the high walls of our 2-story sunken living room ... the light comes through the upper clerestory windows. I think of the Disney movie "Polyanna", and the prism scenes, and smile every time I see the rainbows.

This prism is good looking but only produces little white dots on the walls. Colored prisms don't produce much in the way of color splashes although they're attractive in themselves.

Clear prisms can produce a lot of rainbows. Among the clear prisms, those with large facets produce the strongest colors as well as the longest and widest color splashes all over the room.

I purchased 7 prisms through Amazon. Among them were 6 different kinds as one was a duplicate from a different vendor. All these prisms were manufactured by the same company, which has its own web site marketing prisms and sells them for much higher prices. Therefore, I have experience with the different prisms available through Amazon.

This prism produces the best colors, by far, and the largest color splashes:76mm Teardrop Crystal Prisms #873-76.

I ordered 5 of these for a total of $23 with shipping, liked them, was happy with the shipping cost and proceeded to order another 5 until I saw that shipping charge. For a second order of 5, they wanted $57 for the crystals and shipping.

Will go some where else.
